Description and Objectives: |
| Cardiac Ultrasound Today is a home-study course intended for cardiologists and cardiac sonographers who practice echocardiographic imaging of the adult patient. Ten lessons are included in the annual subscription. The general objectives of the lessons are to update and change the competence, performance, and knowledge of the subscriber regarding basic considerations in echocardiography, common problems in echocardiographic imaging, challenges in using echocardiography as a diagnostic tool, and recent advances in the care of the adult patient with heart disease. Specific objectives that participants should be able to accomplish after the completion of an individual lesson in the series are clearly indicated in each lesson.

| The learner's needs (knowledge, competence, or performance) underlying a professional practice gap in dealing with problems and challenges in adult echocardiography was assessed by written evaluations from prior enrollees, faculty, and Editorial Board members.
